What is a convention?

A convention is, above all, a meeting of passionate Coca-Cola collectors—a place for discussion, networking, and buying and selling items related to the Coca-Cola universe.

Depending on the country and the year, conventions can take different forms. For example, the U.S. national convention takes place over a full week, including daily events, various types of auctions, conferences, and site visits… Italy has recently been organizing its convention over three days.

In France, the standard format includes a general meeting on Saturday late afternoon, a festive cocktail reception, and a dinner during which numerous prizes are up for winning. On Saturday afternoon, exhibitors have access to the exhibition rooms to set up their tables, which is already an opportunity to browse and exchange items. On Sunday morning, the exhibition halls open, first to club members, then to the public.

Depending on local regulations and the year, attending a convention is also an opportunity to leave with a collector’s souvenir (such as a T-shirt, pin, mug, can, or bottle).

The relationship with Coca-Cola

The club is in no way affiliated with The Coca-Cola Company, but maintains a good relationship with it. Depending on the year, The Coca-Cola Company may provide beverages or promotional items, or even set up an attraction at the convention, such as the “Chalet” shown below, where attendees could customize their bottles.

Another year, Coca-Cola organized a tour of the Grigny plant for us. This plant is a flagship factory of Coca-Cola Europacific Partner, located near Paris (Essonne 91). All the members who attended enjoyed the guided tour, which included a presentation of the main steps in the production lines, and even a small buffet to conclude the visit. It was definitely a wonderful experience that we hope to repeat as soon as possible!
