On July 4, 1776, the “United States of America”—as they were now called—proclaimed their independence in Philadelphia. The text, co-authored by Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, declared independence from the United Kingdom and the creation of thirteen independent states.
This year marks the 250th anniversary, celebrated in typical American style with great fanfare. Coca-Cola couldn’t miss such an event and has partnered with the celebrations.
As for the bottles, there are the traditional six-packs in both regular and zero versions, with labels featuring motifs from the American flag and the America 250 logo.
The Coca-Cola Store, meanwhile, offers a more minimalist bottle featuring the America 250 logo.
As for the cans, no fewer than 50 different designs have been announced—one for each state. Each mini can features two letters and a symbol to represent each state. The initial campaign highlights the Texas cowboy hat, Georgia peaches, and California surfing.
In parallel with these product launches, Coca-Cola is organizing a major contest with numerous prizes to be won—including a Jeep Wrangler—as well as a variety of activities, and is encouraging street artists to capture this anniversary in their art.
